And this episode is titled from A Life of Quiet Desperation and Resignation to an Extraordinary Life. You're listening to the Transform your Life from the Inside Out podcast. This entire episode is sharing stories and experiences I have learned from Virginia Cook. When we switch from self-service to self (survival and getting by) and we change to building others in the world, our life becomes magical and extraordinary. The gist is, when we serve others we then inadvertently serve ourselves and the more we serve others the more we create and share in life and when we do this life becomes extraordinary. Virginia built the second-largest private real estate company in North Texas in just under a decade and one day I asked her how she did it and she shared her magical formula with me and I want to share it with you in this episode. As my podcast has a global following but for those in Dallas, TX real estate and maybe even some in national real estate, they have heard of Virginia Cook. I want to take you on a short journey with one of the greatest mentors and friends in my life, a woman name Virginia Cook. And, when you “find yourself” every single door in your life that is closed will magically open…I promise! Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is in the service to others.” And, that is the key, and let’s explore that. So many people want and search for a better life when it’s in front of them all the time if/when they move the focus off themselves and move it onto others. In my experience and observation, the best, easiest, and most rewarding way to start living an extraordinary life is to live a life in the service of others. In modern terms, a life of quiet desperation means being at the mercy of our circumstances and living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling with money, health, and relationships, or a combination of any of these circumstances. In other words, they spent a lifetime wasting their god-given talent and went to the grave with nothing but regrets.Henry David Thoreau said, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” And, when he said men, of course, these days we can interpret that as most people, both men and women.Īlmost all of us have heard that phrase and it rings true for many many people but truly who owns it and what does it mean? They lived not being their true selves, they died never having reached their greatest potential. They die, that little ember of what would've made them live fulfilled lives just as dead as they are. Everything they ever wanted to do, everything they ever wanted to be is buried deep within them. They find a job, they work, they come home, spend a little time with family, then sleep only to do the same thing the next day. Even though they spend their lives saying "Oh, if I could only do.", they instead just continue living their monotonous existence.doing the same thing every day for most of their lives. People who want to be singers and actors and entrepreneurs are working at some dead-end office job because they have to, or because it's expected of them, or they started a family, etc. What the quote is trying to say (at least to me) is that most people live their lives wanting to do something, live a life of passion, but their passion is turned away so that they could live a more "realistic" life. I had to sign up just to answer this question.
